Conrad Vlok: 2022 Winemaker of the Year
We are proud to announce that Conrad Vlok, the winemaker for Fortes Wines has won the 2022 Diners Club Winemaker of the Year award.
Fortes Wines are made by the great Conrad Vlok and Neil Fortes. The whole team at Fortes Wines are proud of Conrad for winning this fabulous accolade.
Conrad Vlok has been making wine since 2004. He has a close affinity to the terroir, which makes him a true man of the soil and his warm temperament and empathetic relationship with the environment is reflected in his wines. As a specialist in Sauvignon Blanc, Conrad’s philosophy centres on the idea that to make great wine you need to start with great grapes.
Neil Fortes envisioned making impactful Sauvignon Blanc in the Sancerre style when he planted vines in the Napier Valley beside the river. The plot of land features great drainage and our own water source. Fortes Sauvignon Blancs are known for their minerality, lemongrass and fig undertones. Great grapes and great winemakers are a winning combination.
